My Students

Learning to identify the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they symbolize is a big challenge for kindergarten students. These skills need to be mastered before young children can experience the joy of reading by themselves.

My kindergarten students are learning to adapt to their first year of school.

They are excited about learning to read like their older siblings and parents do. They are excited to come to school each morning and think that all of the learning activities we do are great fun. That is the joy of being in a kindergarten room each day. Our school is in a small city in north western Arizona. Our kindergarten class is large, 30 students, and the students work hard each day to learn all that they'll need to be ready for first grade.

My Project

Kindergarten students learn better when they can physically handle and manipulate the materials related to their learning. The alphabet tool box magnetic pieces will enable my students to match letters with beginning sound pictures, to put the letters in alphabetical order, and to build words. They will be able to learn visually and kinesthetically which will enhance their learning experience.

The alphabet tool box class set will give my students an interactive way to explore letters, letter sounds, and building words.

Being able to manipulate the letters will build student engagement and will help the students retain what they are learning.
