My students are an amazing group of 4th graders from a low income, urban area. My students face some unique challenges because of their situations and I want to provide them with the supplies and experiences necessary for them to be successful in school and the greater community.
This year, my students will be artists, musicians, scientists, mathematicians, readers, authors, sociologists, and so much more.
It is so important for them to have what they need to be successful. Our district has some very lofty and very achievable goals if students are just given the space, the time, and the materials. With your help, I can see that my students are prepared for the path they choose.
My Project
This past year has taught me a lot about myself as a teacher and a lot about myself as a learner. I'm finding that while I love technology so much nothing replaces the hands on excitement that happens in the classroom. I am hoping you will help me bring another element of excitement to the technology in my classroom.
Over the past few years, I have worked hard to incorporate project based learning into my classroom.
I've loved watching the kids get excited about the work and create masterpieces. The one piece I think would really help grow their excitement and push our work to the next level would be a 3D printer. With this printer, my students would be able to make their ideas come to life! We would be able to print pieces that would interact with our SAMLabs circuitry and coding and items that would enhance their project-based learning outcomes.
I've chosen this specific 3D printer because of how easily I think students will be able to use it. I don't want this to be an item that I have to run for them, I want this to be another tool in our classroom that they can use on their own and really bring their ideas and learning to life.
