Do you remember the excitement of working on science experiments as a kid? Well...I teach science and I want to offer my students the same excitement more often in class. Our current tables aren't large enough for experiments.
My students are avid fourth grade learners.
They come from many countries and bring differing levels of readiness to learn. Some are well prepared for school, others need many enriching experiences to fill their learning gaps. We have a significant population of economically needy students combined with students whose families can provide adequate support.
My fourth graders are eager to discover the mysteries of science and the fun of math! The best way to do this is to expose them to as many hands on activities and learning methods as possible.
My Project
These tables will give the students room to work together to conduct experiments and engage in cooperative learning math situations. Because the tables provide more seating while taking up less space than our current tables, we will be able to arrange learning groups more easily. Providing space for students to comfortably work together is even more important than ever with increasing class sizes and the emphasis on more collaborative learning environments.
Because I teach science to the entire grade level, this project will impact nearly 100 students in the first year.
This resource will remain in my classroom to encourage future classes of students to work together in solving problems and conducting experiments. Your support can make this happen for my students!
