My Students

How can I create a culture of collaboration and community in a classroom bound by traditional seating? I can start by creating an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and different perspectives in a comfortable, creative space.

Most of my students come from hard-working families focused on success.

The commonality is the desire to raise high performing, goal-oriented students geared toward a college education. The mindset of working toward a goal TOGETHER, recognizing different perspectives, and compromising to reach the desired outcome WITH others is what I would like the focus to be in class. I want them to experience the excitement of collaborating together, feeling the collective spirit as they solve problems, and focus on teamwork as they learn.

My Project

My students will use these clipboards often to work in small groups or individually around the classroom throughout the day. The children will be able to move beyond the traditional desk setting and work in areas that may suit their needs better.

We will also use the clipboards to be able to easily work outside when we do science investigations.

For example, two activities we do are we test the distance of different designs of paper airplanes, and we observe the shadows that are created throughout the day as the Earth rotates on its axis. Having these materials will certainly make it easier to learn on the go!
