My Students

My school serves students from a variety of backgrounds. Some are from the neighborhood, others have heard of our wonderful arts program and apply from outside our boundaries. Other students are attending local rehab programs with their parents, while others have a sick/injured sibling receiving medical care at a local hospital. We serve students from around the world. Our student population is diverse, unique and truly amazing!

Kindergarten children are naturally enthusiastic, curious and energetic learners who thrive on hands-on, engaging activities.

I hope to continue to give my students critical learning opportunities when/if they are sick, have sick family members or are needing to quarantine due to Covid-19 exposure. Over the past year and a half I, as many other teachers, have scrambled to continue supporting young students with meaningful, hands-on learning while at home. I have some resources to send with children but I often find out at the last minute they are unable to return to school. Trying to quickly gather materials, while still teaching a room full of young children, is a struggle. I am hoping to create learning kits that store key hands-on learning materials that I can quickly and efficiently get to quarantined families.

My Project

These materials will support my students by giving me resources to create pre-made learning kits that can be quickly checked out to students/families who need to quarantine due to Covid-19 exposure/illness.

White boards and markers will give children opportunities for independent practice at home while the pouches will allow me to safely add additional classroom learning supplies.

The social emotional resources will help me update my classroom "Cozy Corner" as well as support on-going lessons and hands-on learning opportunities. The addition of these resources will support the range of learners in my classroom.
