My students need tools to fidget and puzzles to exercise their brains, body socks, headphones and yoga balls for sensory diets, and a projector for the classroom.
My students grow everyday. They face challenges and find ways to overcome them. These tools will help them to learn new skills to become independent and confident.
My classroom is a safe place for my small group of second and third grade students who face emotional and behavioral disabilities.
These students on a daily basis must face a world that is often too overwhelming, loud, and judgmental. My students work everyday to overcome their challenges, and find new ways to cope with the feelings that cloud their ability to learn, create meaningful relationships and explore the world around them.
My students love learning, they love feeling proud about who they are and the work that they can accomplish. We would love to have the supplies to create a more therapeutic classroom, and the ability to engage the students through technology. Our goal is to give each student what they need to be successful in any setting because they matter.
My Project
My classroom currently holds a need for therapeutic resources to help students with sensory diets and ways to manage their frustration in a proactive manner. The yoga balls, headphones, and body sock with be used for students sensory diets. We are asking for a variety of fidgets, puzzles, and balance ball chairs to help students proactively manage their impulses. While the room divider will provide privacy when students are having a difficult time. These tools with help facilitate a safe, and calming learning environment that is needed for successful academic achievement.
The LCD projector connects the students to the world outside our classroom and will expand the resources I can use in science, social studies, Math, Language Arts, and Social Skills. A projector would allow me to expose my students, to sights and sounds that currently are far out of reach.
These donations will help students to access curriculum and coping strategies.
The technology will provide new experiences and a new way to learn, which will heighten interest. Meanwhile the therapeutic tools will allow students to relieve stress and frustration in a proactive manner, to get back on track to a positive learning day.
