Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of high energetic and motivated third graders in a rural area Title I school. I have students from many different cultures and backgrounds. Regardless of where they come from these students love to learn and pick up quickly on using new ways to do so. My students are very intrigued when using new tools to help further their understanding of concepts.
In this class we learn that mistakes are proof that we are trying and that there are multiple ways to learn.
With so many different ways to learn we try to find what way is best for each student. Our classroom is a family that helps each other work through any learning difficulty we may be facing.
My Project
This project will help build our class library and fill it with variety. It will also give a great music tool to engage students in all subjects. Keeping an updated class library helps students become excited about reading. They love having new updated choices. By giving newer book choices students are more apt to truly enjoy the material they are reading. We will utilize these new books daily with scheduled reading times. The students will also use them to build other skills such as report writing and comprehension activities.
Learning through music can be a great way for students to retain information.
Students are expected to learn so many new concepts each year. Keeping up with learning styles and advancements require new approaches to teaching. By changing up and using new methods such as music I can reach more students on their level.
The Flocabulary subscription covers many different content areas. Students can watch these animated videos while listening to songs that pertain to the content areas we will be going over. Many students will benefit from hearing this material in song form.
