This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students love coming to school every day to laugh and learn together. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our whole world has changed, and we really miss our daily time together at school. Many of our students do not have technology at home so they are unable to participate in online activities.
We want to give all of our students the opportunity to be successful academically regardless of the current pandemic.
Technology has been a big challenge because many families have multiple students who have to share iPad and laptop. Often, the youngest learners are left out because their older siblings are using the technology to complete their assignments.
My Project
Our school building and libraries are closed which leaves many of our kindergarten scholars without access to technology. Our students are used to hands-on activities which allow them to grow and learn by exploring the world around them. COVID-19 has put a stop to us learning at school, but that doesn't mean we have to stop learning.
We want to make sure that all of our students have access to technology and learning materials to ensure they are prepared to be successful in first grade.
The tablets and headphones will allow our scholars to continue to learn and explore from home using technology. There are many programs the students can access that will allow them to read, practice math, and even go on virtual field trips
It is important for our students to continue learning while the school building is closed. Our students enter kindergarten with major gaps and deficits. It is our goal to close the achievement gap even if we are not physically in the building. Through live ZOOM classes and custom learning materials our students will be all set for first grade.
