This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember how you were taught music in school? It is probably very different than the way that students learn in classrooms today. My students want to learn how to play and make music using video game technology.
I teach middle school music in an urban community.
The majority of my students are from low income families. Despite their financial hardships, my students come to school eager to learn and better themselves. My students love to use computers and technology to enhance the curriculum they are learning.
My Project
I am requesting Wii software to enhance my music curriculum. These Wii games will reinforce the music concepts my students learn in class. They will be able to learn guitar basics, instrumentation, keeping a beat, playing easy and complex rhythms, drumming basics and much more. Using the Wii software will get my students to become actively involved in their learning. Video games are so popular among kids, why not bring it into the classroom for learning experiences?
Your donation will give my students the opportunity to learn and play music using video games.
These games are giving music teachers a new way to reach students who may be reluctant learners. Your support will give me and my students many new learning opportunities in music class.
