Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our Title I school, almost all of my students are second language learners. Their drive to learn and achieve is amazing. My classroom is full of learners and future leaders who strive to do their best every day.
My students are the face of the United States of America.
Some were born in this country to English speaking parents. Some were born in the United States to Spanish or Vietnamese speaking parents. Others were born in another country and immigrated to the United States. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between each other.
My Project
Last year, our students began music classes with an outside teacher. The students love learning about musical notes, how to read music, singing, and most importantly, learning to play a recorder.
Recorders are a great first instrument for students to learn to play.
My students would be able to practice their musical talents beyond our weekly music time if they each had their own recorder. Learning to read and play music is another step to helping create a well-rounded student. They love to listen to music, let's help them learn to play it! Together we may be witnessing a new musical superstar.
