Learning Music in More Ways Than One

My students need kazoos that are theirs to keep (we do not want to share germs) and a class set of boomwhackers. Boomwhackers might help students who like can only handle one note at a time.

My Students

The students at this school are really amazing, they are hungry to learn more about music. We are located in South Central Rural Iowa and predominately low socioeconomic status. These students know a lot about the great things that we can do in music if only we had the resources and tools.

I want to make music a great experience for everyone.

Our school does not have a budget to cover everything that we want to do.

The students here are wanting to explore the many fun and exciting aspects of music and would love any help that they can get.

My Project

Kazoos - when students have their own kazoos, they are learning how to make different sounds with their voices in another way, that is also fun. This might be a way that students learn music. Each student is different.

Boomwhackers - boomwhackers are colored coded so students can learn how to read music not only by the color of their boomwhacker, but also by looking at where the note is on the staff.

There are also videos of other schools and students their age playing popular music with boomwhackers. It's relative to the students and it is also cool to watch. But why watch other schools when they can do it themselves.
