My Students

I teach a wonderful group of students in suburban California. They are inspiring, inspired and eager to learn. My students are curious little knowledge sponges. On a daily basis, they strive to make good decisions, exhibit teamwork and take ownership of their classroom. I love watching their creativity in action.

My students have been practicing and exhibiting important decision-making skills.

They have been working on collaborative learning as well as choice-based seating. I'm so proud of their ability to make good choices and take responsibility for their learning.

My Project

Our goal is for number sense to become instinctual and second nature! In other words, we want to be able to understand numbers and solve problems "by the seat of our pants". What better way to do that than to literally sit on a number grid. Our class needs a 120 Grid Activity rug so that we can constantly visually reinforce ten groups, assist with addition and subtraction, solve 10 more and 10 less...the mathematical possibilities are endless. The added benefit is that we will be able to experiment with seating arrangements while sitting at the rug and participating in whole group, small group, team or partner instruction. They will easily be able to find their spots on the rug while growing their mathematical skills!
