My Students
My students are from a small rural agricultural town in the Salinas Valley. Many of them come from low income families, and they are English language learners. I enjoy promoting enthusiasm for learning, and encouraging them to be the best student they can be. Encouraging enthusiasm in my students and create an exciting and positive learning environment where my students can excel is very important for academic growth. Having the headphones, a DVD player, and a portable CD player will allow them to have access to enriching curriculum and activities, especially in math and science.
My Project
My wonderful first grade students will use the headphones to engage in math and science activities using the classroom Chromebooks. The DVD player will be use to show many science related topics to introduce a topic or science in action. Visuals and information gained from watching the related DVD's will get then excited and prepared for learning about science and different scientific phenomenon. My students will also use the headphone with the portable CD player. During flexible grouping, my students will be able to listen to a variety of nonfiction books that are related to science topics being studied in the classroom. Listening to these CDs will allow many of my students to accesses higher levels of vocabulary and ideas that they may not be able to read for themselves.
