I teach in a military town and about 70% of the students in my school are from families serving the country. My school is on an island off the coast of Washington in a town with a population around 23,000.
I want to make my classroom a place where students are comfortable and ready to learn.
Many of the students in my classroom have only been there 1-2 years and many of them know they will be moving this year or next. The fact that my students move around so much definitely affects the friendships and confidence they have in the classroom.
My Project
These wireless mice will help my students to be able to use their classroom Chromebooks easier. The mice will allow students to use the tools from the online programs much easier than the track pad on the laptop. The rechargeable batteries will allow me to constantly have a power source for the mice and allow us to help keep with our district initiative of being a green school. Online curriculum is an amazing tool for teachers, it allows us to give instruction to each student on their level and at their own pace. For some students, using the track pad on a laptop is frustrating and a distraction from their learning, these mice would help eliminate that fine motor frustration and allow my 3rd graders to really focus on properly using the online tools to get instruction. Learning how to use a mouse and computer is an important part of technology education and will help my students to be more successful adults in the real world.
