My Students

My first grade students are full of energy with a strong desire to learn and read. We live in three small, rural communities that combine to make our school district. Our elementary school is a small district with approximately 200 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

These special first grade students love to learn through activities that are fun, yet focus on the skills that we need to master in first grade.

Six and seven-year-olds have the enthusiasm and energy to make any type of learning fun.

My Project

Many times throughout our day in first grade, we are sitting on the floor to work. I find this type of atmosphere makes students more comfortable and able to focus on new learning.

My students need a comfortable place to sit and learn while on the floor.

The soft spot cushions are a perfect way to do that! The kids can use them while reading a book, listening to someone else read a book, or learning a new skill in a large or small group.

I am always trying to find ways to help students at a young age learn. Allowing them to sit on the floor is more natural for their active little bodies and brains to learn!
