Because I have the privilege of teaching many English Language Learners, literacy is a focal point in our classroom. Each day my youngsters are hard at work learning their letter sounds and names so that they may soon become enthusiastic readers.
I have a very diverse Kindergarten classroom, comprised of children who live in a rural town in Washington.
My students are eager to learn despite various challenges some of them face. My students represent many different cultures and languages; however, what they all have in common is an incredible hunger for learning. Our school is an incredibly inclusive and safe environment which holds all students to high standards.
My Project
I am requesting 6 sets of Hot Dots activity cards, 10 Hot Dots pens, and 2 sets of stamps. These educational tools will serve as vital resources for literacy. They are great for early-finishers, as well as an intervention tool for those who are struggling. Students will be able to independently work on their phonemic awareness and decoding skills, which will prepare them for reading. The materials are all differentiated so that all of my students can be challenged and be successful.
Incorporating technology into the classroom is a great way to engage students.
When children are motivated by memorable experiences, they achieve far more.
Dr. Seuss once said, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."
