This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the best students! They are curious, adventurous, and keep me on my toes. My school is in a rural area of South Carolina, where 100% are on free breakfast and lunch and the school population is majority African-American. Our school is geared towards young people interested in the healthcare field and many leave our school to obtain college degrees in some form of healthcare. Our school's greatest success is a 100% graduation rate and placement in college, the military, and the workplace.
My Project
I teach high school Economics. It is imperative that my lessons have a "hook" to capture their attention and interest. Later this semester I will teach a unit on financial literacy and basic consumer economic concepts. I would like to use the Game of Life to introduce the unit and get my students excited and engaged in what's to come in the unit. I pride myself in developing lessons that are innovative and relevant. And this unit is no different. My students deserve a high class education, but I see nothing wrong with including activities that are fun and exciting. Thanks!
