Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a bilingual pre-kindergarten classroom in an industrial suburb of Houston. My students are English Language Learners in a Title I school in which more than ninety-five percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I want to help my students develop and grow as much as possible during the time they are in my class.
My students learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
Most importantly my students are delightful and loving people who come to school excited and ready to learn. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that with a little support, my students will thrive.
My Project
I want to give my students the hands-on materials that will help them learn how to recognize uppercase and lowercase letters. The items I am requesting are fun and engaging for young learners. The Alpha-bots turn letters into robots and will have even the youngest learner eager to identify letters. The Learning Letters Activity Leaves and the Snap N Learn Alligator Letters are hands-on toys that will help my students match uppercase and lowercase letters. The Write the Letter Activity Center and the Letter Recognition Activity Center will give my students independent workstation activities that will reinforce their learning.
The ability to identify and write letters is a fundamental skill necessary for success in reading and writing.
I will use the textured touch and trace cards to help my students who need a little extra sensory input to help them learn. The dough stampers will be used in our play-dough center where students will be able to spell their names and practice early writing skills. Finally the Tabletop Markers Stands will help us keep our markers from drying out. I am confident that these items will be of great benefit to my students and help them learn while maintaining their love of school.
