Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in an inner-city district with high numbers and limited materials. The majority of my students come from low-income households and are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. I provide speech-language services to 60 fantastic students who range in ages and grades (preschool to 6th grade).

Throughout sessions, my students love to participate and engage in literacy and play-based activities.

The utilization of a variety of toys/colorful and interactive materials, and story retelling lots will be enrich and enhance my students language skills. By using these motivating activities it will promote engagement and facilitate learning across all settings.

The goal for my project is that by using varied instruction, my students will increase comprehension and expand their vocabulary and expressive language skills to engage in the general education curriculum. Additionally, the toys and materials will provide opportunities for social interactions with peers and staff while building confidence.
