Capable, charismatic, and creative. These are just some of the words that describe my students. My students live in poverty with unstable home lives. For many students, the routine of school is the only stability they have in their lives. I want to provide my students with the best education possible.
Closing the achievement gap begins with obtaining the materials necessary to teach.
My classroom consists of English language learners and students with disabilities. I teach my students to have a growth mindset. Despite what they may believe about their situation and how hard it is to break the poverty cycle, I tell them everyday that they are smart and capable and that they can do anything they put their minds to.
My Project
I am requesting language development kits that include games and lessons for my English Language Learners. Language Learners will use the flashcards with translations into multiple languages to expand their vocabulary and the lessons and activities will increase their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
These kits include hands on games and lessons for students to stay engaged as they develop and increase their understanding of English.
These sets can be used with students of all English Language Development (ELD) levels as they are multitiered and differentiated. Students will have a blast learning and will build the confidence to strengthen their daily use of English.
