Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have about ninety students at White Oak with needs ranging from mild to profound. We have a small life skills classroom, but most of our students are in inclusive general education classes with push-in support from a Special Education teacher. Students work in the learning lab in small pull-out groups, tutorials and testing.
Our students have so much grit, determination and curiosity.
It is so exciting to see them light up when given the appropriate tools and instruction to help them access and master the material.
My Project
Yes Prep White Oak, a sixth through twelfth grade, public, charter campus, is a college preparatory school supporting high need, low income students. Many students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college.
About ten percent of the White Oak population receives Special Education services.
In order to support students in their learning, both in general education classes and when working in our learning lab, we would like to get some additional resources for our students.
These tools will help students to focus better through the use of sensory stimulation tools, improve their basic skills and have the tools they need when working with their special education and general education teachers.
