This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a preschool special education classroom at an early childhood center in Kentucky. I currently have eight children in the classroom who are all working on developing communication, learning kindergarten readiness skills, and understanding how to be part of a classroom community.
The preschool-aged children in my classroom are all full of life, excited about learning, and are loving little balls of energy.
My assistants and I work diligently to help our kids grow and learn, all while accommodating their individual needs. Our children may learn differently than their peers, but they still have incredible potential and endless possibilities for their futures.
My Project
These materials perfectly align with the curriculum we use in our classroom, Big Day for PreK. We will use these theme-based kits to help us better teach the various thematic units, such as weather, community helpers, transportation, and all about me. Because these kits provide hands-on manipulatives, vocabulary cards, writing supports, and other useful materials, our students will have more opportunities to understand the curriculum.
The children in my class need learning tools that engage them in a variety of activities.
These learning kits will help us support the many learning styles of the students in our room. We are excited to use these materials and know that they will certainly support the curriculum goals in our room.
