My students are learning disabled in reading, writing, and/or math, and many have attention issues. My experience with many of my students is that their lives away from school is often stressful, dramatic, and/or traumatic. Learning is very difficult for my students.
I am looking for ways to help engage my students into becoming better learners.
With their difficulty in reading and writing, spelling words and learning phonics and spelling patterns is a huge deficit for almost all of my students. I am looking for engaging ways for my students to learn to become better reading, writers, and spellers.
My Project
The requested products such as the LCD writing boards and word family dice will be used to help build up my special education students' spelling, phonics, and reading skills.
We practice spelling, writing, and decoding words on a daily basis.
Most of my students already believe that school is hard due to it the disabilities and focus challenges that endure every day. I look for activities that are FUN and ENGAGING for my students while they entire time they are learning and probably don't even realize it. Manipulatives help students with learning disabilities learn better by giving them some concrete and a visual to help remember.
Although I have a small number of students in my room, many of them spend a good part of their day with me. I need to have a variety of activities to work on to keep their interest and help them achieve their goals.
