My Students

The students in my class are unique. This is the first year they have had a semi normal year. From funnel classes in First grade to closure in Second Grade due to Covid and partial remote in Third grade also due to Covid, this is the first year that they have had a little normalcy. Many of the students in my class struggle with reading comprehension and math reasoning due to not being able to understand the questions being asked to them in Math, (Word Problems).

Covid has caused a lot of stress on the students in my class not knowing what will happen next, or if they'll be to school the next day.

All of the disruptions in the year have made learning and consistency hard for many of them. The students try, but they are missing many fundamental skills that we are trying to help them with, and gaps we are trying to close in their learning.

My Project

The items that I have requested will be put to good use through working in small groups. I will be using the items to help students who don't understand, or who have a difficult time understanding when a lesson is first taught. When working in small groups the students are more willing to share and open up about what they don't understand. This helps them build better self confidence in what they are doing and then they are more willing to participate in whole class discussions when they rejoin the class as a whole.
