My Students

My amazing group of students are a culturally and financially diverse group. Regardless their background, they are all expected to pursue excellence and to meet their full potential. Many students have different needs and extra supports, but they are determined to meet their educational goal.

In this class, we foster a culture of being lifelong learners.

Students at my school are creative and curious. Many of my students start the year excited to explore and learn, but some are a little nervous. Whether it is because of the language barrier for my English language learners or feelings of frustration when some struggle to understand the material, my students all too often exceed my expectations with their talents, ideas, and compassion. These are the children that make me excited to stand up in front of the classroom every day. My goal is to help each student recognize and understand that their background and ideas are valuable in this classroom community.

My Project

My class is full of readers! Whether it be comic books or mystery books, literature is valued in my classroom. I read in front of my students to model what it is like to be a lifelong learner.

Literature can be use to increase my students' engagement across every subject.

While I also strive to read and hone in on my skills as a teacher, they read engaging material to learn grade level content. My goal is to integrate interesting literature into different subject areas like math, science, and history so that I can keep them reading and excited to learn all year long. With an exciting selection of books to spark each lesson, students can access the material in meaningful ways and dive deep into learning!
