I currently teach Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten at a Title 1 school located in a military housing complex. Our children have come from all over the United States and even some foreign countries.
My students are diverse and amazing kids that are part of a military family.
The majority of my students have at least one parent (or sometimes both) deployed for months or more at a time.
Our school is also a center for Exceptional Military Families (EMF), in which a child or family member has special medical and/or academic needs. Nearly 15% of our student population are children with exceptional needs.
My students LOVE learning, especially about animals and their life cycles. Every year, I hatch and care for chicks with my students, and we need a new chick warmer for our classroom brooder. We also need an egg candler in order to view and record the growth of the chicks inside the egg.
Every year, my students, their families, and even the entire school look forward to chick hatching and caring for new baby chicks.
It is an amazing opportunity to bring a greater sense of community to my classroom and teach the value of life. My students will love the opportunity to better care for the chicks!
