My students are an amazing group that have a natural curiosity for the world around them. In my class, students are learning about math and science, but have very little opportunity to showcase their knowledge in a creative way.
My school is a Title I school with a large portion of our students on free and reduced-priced lunch.
Like most students, mine thrive on positive reinforcements for reaching their personal goals or even participating during instruction!
Our school district follows the PBIS model (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) and encouraging student engagement and participation is paramount to see positive changes.
On a daily basis we expect our students to compute, recall, expand and apply their skills. Being able to feel supported with sweet treats gives confidence to even the meekest of learners.
Imagine the smile a yummy motivator can do to promote ongoing success!
Students do not need much to feel empowered; a word, a look, and even a token treat goes a long way to encourage a student to continue delving deeper into a subject and expanding their breadth of knowledge Being able to offer my students little treats supports our district's positive behavior and intervention support systems as well.
Our school has access to Chromebooks for all students and that requires earphones. Students prefer their own equipment to use while working our Google Classroom.
