My students need Magnatiles, math charts, a trash can, Educational Insights Blurt! game, Can Do! Prefixes and Suffixes game, and the the Incredible Word Building Game to promote literacy engagement.
We are an integrated collaborative teaching (ICT) first-grade class, with a mixture of general and special education students at a high-needs, Title I school in the Bronx. While the majority of students come from low-income homes or from homes with limited parental involvement, they are enthusiastic and come to school every day ready to learn. They see school as a consistent part of their daily lives and love to make me proud.
My first graders are some of the happiest children I have ever had the pleasure of working with; they inspire me to provide the best education I can for them.
My Project
It's important to me that my students are given opportunities to work with their classmates to solve problems so they can become better critical thinkers. Magna-Tiles will let them do so in a fun way! Having my students work in groups on science, technology, engineering and math projects is one of my favorite parts of teaching and promotes STEM.
The 1-100 and 1-120 number charts will be displayed in the math corner of the room.
These charts will be used as a visual reference for students to become familiar with the hundred grid, which we use consistently throughout the school year. They are large, bright, and organized in a child-friendly way.
Our class has diverse learning needs, which is why it’s important to have resources that will appeal to my higher level learners as well. I have requested the Educational Insights Blurt! game, Can Do! Prefixes and Suffixes game, and the Didax Chunks The Incredible Word Building Game. These games will target the skills those students need to master in order to continue progressing their literacy skills. The garbage can is necessary for sanitation and cleanliness purpose in our classroom; we want to promote a room that is clean, organized and germ-free.
