I currently teach a fourth and fifth grade bridged 12:1:1 special education classroom. The students are a very diverse group that come from many different cultures and battle with many different issues.
I am a 2nd year teacher who is paying my way through college so I am beginning to run low on money because I am always purchasing supplies for my students and the classroom.
I have spent most of my money on purchasing the basics for my classroom library and other supplies. I am now trying to add more important things to my classroom such as educational games and activities.
All of my students struggle with reading comprehension and vocabulary, thus, I am constantly teaching these skills and lessons on these topics. I came across the games one day and I believe it will be a new and fun way for them to work on expanding their vocabulary. Another area my students are really struggling with is time, which is an essential skill that is needed. Many of them understand how to tell time but they need to practice these skills in order to master the skill. They will also be able to learn about life science, geography, money, place value, & fractions. The games will help make learning more fun!
My Project
Thus, I am hoping to help students do better in these areas by teaching the concepts through games. Time is the one area that the students really need to work on and I believe that by introducing the concept through a game the students will not find the concept as difficult as they did before. The other games will help them with their reading comprehension and tackling words. These games will help them with these skills because the more these ideas and concepts are introduced and the more they work with them, the easier the concepts will be.
If you choose to donate to my project you will be help my students have more educational options on Fridays during free time.
Schools are continually eliminating recess and other activities that allow them to be kids. By donating to this project you will help give them back a little fun time while still learning at the same time.
