I love my students with all my heart. I work with students with mild to moderate disabilities. They range from specific learning disabilities in reading, writing and math, to high functioning autism. I have students in my classroom anywhere from an hour a day to all day. The students have been told they can't succeed, or that they are unable to learn. I have the amazing opportunity to show them that what others say isn't true and that anyone can learn - especially during a global pandemic.
I get the opportunity to help open a brand new school and with that the students are eager to learn and want to have the best material to achieve the highest level of learning!
"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn" - Ignacio Estrada. This is why I teach, to learn how to teach EACH student.
My Project
Learning takes time, effort, and imagination! Currently, because of the global pandemic, my students are having a hard time enjoying school. They are frustrated, easily discouraged, and continuously down on themselves. They know they struggle in school because of their disabilities, and the lack of consistency these last two years have really taken a toll on them. Many of them also come from single parent homes where school is their safe place and my classroom is their safe place.
I want to make learning fun again!
By giving the students more hands on experiences and supplementing their learning I can create an environment where they feel successful and love learning again. I can do it on my own, but there have been so many resources made available through TEAchers Pay Teachers that I would love to not only save time, but also give back to fellow teachers by supporting them and their dreams.
Help me give my students a fun, creative, enjoyable experience in school again!
