My students need reading comprehension journals to practice reading comprehension each morning. My students need one classroom Samsung Galaxy Tablet to explore ReadWorks, research, and have more opportunities to use technology integrated into their daily reading.

Teaching at a Title 1 school, my students come to school each day ready to learn despite the challenges they face. More than 82.7% of our students qualify for free or reduced- price lunch. My goal is to prepare our students to be successful on their individual educational journeys. In order to be successful in their journey, they must be able to read and comprehend what they are reading.
My students are ambitious, curious Montessorians.
Montessori is a discovering, child- centered method of learning and teaching. I have 20 amazing Lower Montessori students. Our Montessori Program is very diverse in cultures. Our school serves 718 students in grades PK- 6. All students experience a STEM program and Discovery Education to meet their individual needs. These programs cater to science and math, which are essential; however, reading is the foundation.
One area my students struggle in is reading comprehension. With the items my project L.I.T. requests, each student will have more opportunities to understand literary and informational texts. This develops their critical thinking and comprehension skills while cultivating inquiry-based learning to promote higher-order thinking. The class set of Reading Comprehension Journals will be used daily during reading time. Thereafter, the students will actively engage in a class discussion on the stories and questions, and then collaborate to execute a performance task.
Last year, the students began using ReadWorks to help develop their reading comprehension skills.
It is an amazing program that benefits all of my students; however, the students are limited in resources. My classroom is only equipped with three desktops. With your donation, more students will be able to access ReadWorks using the class a Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
The Reading Comprehension Journals and a Samsung Galaxy Tablet allows my students to read comprehensively, which will ultimately prepare them for secondary schooling and beyond, enabling them to become life-long learners of reading.
