This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Throughout the school year my biggest challenge was finding motivating activities for my students, I brought in my I pad and it was a hit. The student enjoyed story time , working on task in groups and learning new skills. How exciting to think of the possibilities of multiple tablets in the class!
All of my highly energetic students are diagnosed with Autism.
The students and I are all moving to a new location due to overcrowding and limited class space in my previous school. The school system I work for has technology. Some schools have more than others and from my past experience teachers can only check out technology for a number of weeks and then it needs to be returned. Unfortunately, this will not benefit my students and their needs. Having the tablets readily available will increase the integrated usage throughout the day.
My Project
I envision using these tablets to motivate my students and create independent learners. The android forum has a large amount of apps that can address the various levels in my class from errorless learning, to frequency drills, to assessing skills such as addition. The tablets will also be used as readers in the library area and for social skills.
Integrating technology into the classroom will enhance lessons throughout the different content areas, allow students to be self-directed and cooperative in learning, and increase their independence in the classroom.
