Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school in Nebraska where 80% of the students attending receive free and reduced lunch and 50% of the students are English Language Learners. The numbers provide a snapshot of the difficulties many of my students face. These young learners come to school ready to learn and are very resilient.

Most of the students I teach face many hardships outside of school, yet they show up everyday determined to learn.

They inspire me every day to be a better teacher and person.

My Project

The items I am requesting will be used immediately by my 3rd graders! The light filters will block the obnoxious fluorescent light helping students feel relaxed. The folders, rings and pencil holders will help keep them organized. The final items are erasers and fidgets to purchase with their reward dollars in our class store.

The goal of this project is to motivate students to continue to learn and create a relaxing environment.

I also added some hands on supplies to add to our STEM bin collection. All of these items will allow my students to have a more exciting and welcoming learning environment.
