Our school has 330 students that are excited to learn and read! We have a mixture of amazing students some that are bilingual and ELLs. Our library is a work in progress and needs updated books so students will have new and exciting materials to check out in August. Our school is a Title I school where 100% of our students qualify for free/reduced meals.
Our students deserve access to amazing books which will open up a whole new world to them!
Although I have been teaching for 18 years, this is my first year as a School Librarian. In the spring of last school year we had substituted in the library so this summer we spent a lot of time cleaning and weeding out our book collection. Now that our book collection is organized I would like to focus my energy on making the space welcoming for students.
I am super excited about this opportunity but I have a lot to do to transform this space into what I envision is best for students at our school.
I would like to make this an inviting, beautiful space where students can learn how wonderful libraries can be! Many of our students have not visited any other library; so this is a wonderful opportunity for me to expand their window to places they didn't even know existed!
