My awesome second grade class is a diverse group of learners with great attitudes and eagerness to learn. Our focus is on celebrating our strengths, discovering multiple intelligence's and working towards growth for each child regardless of ability when they start the year.
We are a Responsive Classroom school that supports collaboration, critical thinking and intrinsic reinforcement of good choices.
I know that all students come to school wanting to do well, and they will if they can. If they cannot, I work with them and family to find out why and support the child. Each year my hope is to create a classroom environment that feels safe and welcoming to all students so they can flourish and learn to believe in themselves.
Scholastic Storyworks magazine is a great resource for teachers and students! The high interest content, variety of texts along with the supplemental resources available through the website are engaging and meaningful for my students.
There are many reading skills and strategies embedded into each of the magazines as well as fiction, non-fiction, drama and poetry.
Storyworks encourages children to read and learn plus it is directly aligned to the Common Core State Standards, to allow my students to learn meaningful skills and content.
With the use of Flocabulary online my students will be highly engaged as I introduce and review curriculum from all subject areas. My students love this resource every year.
