Our students are creative, thoughtful and always full of questions! They enjoy engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically. They really are a phenomenal group of young people! Our school is located in a small Central Illinois community just northwest of the state capital of Springfield.
There are days in each classroom where students love learning, but our goal is to make it so that is an every day occurrence!
The classroom culture, learning, and teaching styles may vary from room to room. In each room we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are. While each classroom may be different, at the heart of each is a passion for education. It is this passion that helps create a place where students can blossom!
My Project
As a Third grade team, we assign biography book reports each year. We always strive to push students towards learning about new people. This is one reason we love the Who Was book series. As a part of this project the students will receive a 24 book set of the Who Was? book series, which features biographies for kids.
All of our students enjoy learning in the classroom as well as the playground.
We also believe that recess serves as a necessary break from the rigors of concentrated, academic challenges in the classroom. Equally important is the fact that safe and well-supervised recess offers cognitive, social, emotional, and physical benefits, which is why you will also see playground equipment, which includes which include basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, and frisbees, as a part of this project.
We believe that all of these playground items, will provide students with learning experiences in and out of the classroom that they may not otherwise get to experience!
