Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title 1 school in Converse, Texas. I am hoping to raise money for tablets in my classroom as our classroom computers are outdated and frequently don't work. To begin with, I plan on implementing these tablets to use as audio books for struggling readers and in math to help with fact fluency. Also in my project I would like to be able to purchase a counter height, small table for those students who need to stand while working.
My students are hardworking, caring kiddos and deserve technology that can support their learning in a culturally relevant way.
I feel that implementing tablets as part of our classroom routine would get them excited about a new way of learning.
My Project
Technology is a great resource if you have it and it works properly. Our classroom computers can be very frustrating. I cannot count the number of minutes my students have wasted waiting for the computer to log them in or have stopped working during use. My kiddos get frustrated and ultimately give up. In fact this happened last week! In 2017 technology has become a big part of our culture, these tablets would allow my students to have working technology at their fingertips to enhance their learning. My vision is to utilize these multiple times during the day to assist with learning. I also would like to purchase a tall table for students who need the option to stand while working because every kiddo is unique and needs options for optimal learning!
