I teach in a Title 1 school where 58% of our students receive free or reduced priced meals. My school is on the coast of Central North Carolina. Our town was ravaged by Hurricane Florence in early September, 2018.
Due to the destruction of Hurricane Florence, many of my students are living in hotel rooms.
Their homes were severely damaged and are now no longer habitable. Several of my students are living with extended family members while their homes undergo roof repairs and renovations. Some of our families have friends and family living with them during our Florence recovery.
Our small town has been hit hard. The hardship caused by Hurricane Florence has caused a lack of focus and created undo stress that makes it nearly impossible to harness my children's reading abilities.
My Project
The Epson EcoTank wireless printer will be an amazing resource for my class of 2nd graders! I will be able to print reading and math resources in color- helping to keep my students who struggle in reading and math focused and engaged!
Since I do not have a reading textbook for my students, I am constantly searching for high interest print materials online for my students to differentiate their learning.
The Epson EcoTank printer will allow me to print non-fiction texts in brilliant color. My students will beam with excitement when they are able to closely examine rich pictures and photographs from their printed leveled texts. Seeing photographs and text features in color will hold the attention of the young minds that I teach each day!
