I teach 15 elementary kiddos with a variety of different academic and behavior needs. My students range from kindergarteners all the way to third graders. Some of my students need more support than others; however, they all benefit from my ability to provide one-on-one and small-group interactions to build on their needs. For some of my students, my classroom is one of the first ones they ever step into. For other students, my classroom is a safe place free from judgement.
My classroom is a place for students to feel supported, loved, and important.
A majority of my students benefit from a unique classroom set up that offers a variety of different seating, assessment, and learning opportunities. Most of my students have different goals related to their needs; however, they all have one goal in mind: PROGRESS. Whether it is math-related, reading-focused, or behavior-oriented, my students seek to grow, progress, and mature. My students may learn differently; however, they all want to feel included.
My Project
Every student learns in their own way. My students would benefit from various flexible seating options so that they could better learn in their own unique way. The exercise balls would help students maintain posture, remain focused, and help with hyperactivity. The wobble cushions would be used by students in three different ways: on their back, under their bottom, or on the floor to fidget with their feet on. The wobble stools would allow students to remain on task while having to maintain attention through balance.
My students vary in their own strengths, needs, and interests so why shouldn't my seating vary too?
I want my classroom to feel like home and the best way to do that is to make my students feel comfortable and at ease. These flexible seating options would be used by my students so that they could better focus on meeting their own academic, behavior, and personal goals in the most effective way possible.
