Mrs. Hunt from Cambria WI is requesting Flexible Seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Learning in Comfort

Help me give my students some newer flexible seating options for our middle school classroom. We have one Balance Ball chair that is very popular, and it would be great to add a few more.

My Students

There is never a dull moment with middle school students! My students are creative, fun, and enthusiastic. They are curious and eager to learn. They share ideas and collaborate together. They challenge themselves and each other. Each day is its own unique experience that offers many learning opportunities for the students and for myself. I am fortunate to have such amazing students.

When students enter the classroom, they become a part of the learning community.

Throughout their learning experience, my students grow and thrive inside of the classroom walls. As a teacher, I hope to engage my students in as many diverse learning experiences as possible in order to expand their mind and their world. When they leave the classroom, they have the opportunity to take their learning into their own community and beyond.

My Project

I have been teaching in this district for four years, and my room is still a collection of bulky, secondhand furniture. I am looking to add some different seating choices for my students and makeover some of the older ones. By replacing some wobbly wooden chairs with some newer, more stable options such as the Balance Ball Chair or the Wobble Chairs, will allow students to have a more comfortable learning experience, which will enable them to be more successful.

Giving the classroom a new look and replacing some of the damaged seating will help my students feel more comfortable in our class and do their best work.

My class is so excited to have an updated space with more comfortable seating options. This school year, we have switched to a block schedule, which means my students went from having ELA for 47 minutes to 73 minutes. That is a long time to sit in uncomfortable seating. I have high tables and low tables to offer students more choice in their level of comfort when they are learning. These new high chairs will replace some very old second-hand wooden chairs that can not be repaired anymore. The new wobble chairs will give those students the much-needed movement they need while they are working.
