My students need gathering carpets where they can gather quickly to listen to stories, work on their number of the day as well as build some of our stem activities.
I strive to create a classroom that facilitates independence for my adventurous, enthusiastic, fun-loving, inquisitive, eager learners. These students come to school everyday to create, explore, and investigate through hands on learning. I teach in a rural school, so many of the children come to me from a migrant household and are yearning for a safe, loving, and comfortable place to learn and grow. My classroom is a second home to my students. They work cooperatively, support and care about each other. We truly become a family during our time together throughout the school year.
My Project
My students enjoy some alternative seating choices that have freed up some floor space that allows me to set up a gather to learn area. I like to gather my students close while I read to them or share an engaging lesson. Having them close to me assures that they are part of the lesson and engaged in whatever is going on.
Students gathering to learn together helps to create a community that can easily interact with each other, share books, explore research topics, as well as interact with lessons.
This Eric Carle World Map Carpet will not only serve to gather my students together but it will also show them in greater detail the map that we explore in our Social Studies units.
I am also fortunate to have accumulated a large lending library for my students. There they love to lounge and read together. A carpet in this area will assure more students gathering to enjoy the books and each others company. Having the Eric Carle United States map will give the students another larger area map to learn from as well as enjoy.
My students love to be on the floor whether it is to learn in a whole group, individually, or smaller groups. These carpets will serve so many choices in our learning day. I am super excited for when I can easily gather them together to learn and explore!
