This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a very lively bunch of 3- through 5-year-old students. We like to do things hands-on so we are up, moving and using all our energy in positive ways! We are always on the go and always very busy! Therefore, our days need to be planned out with activities to meet the specific needs of the students! We are always actively engaged in our lessons and learning while we are having FUN! (Shhhh! Don't tell them it's work; it's our play and fun that helps us learn!) Most of my students come from low-income families in the city of Pittsburgh.
My Project
We need to have access to color printers in our preschool classrooms so that when labels are printed of students names and labels for toys it can be printed in color. (Student name labels go on lockers, mailboxes, sign-in board, etc). We like to print off pictures for worksheets in color too! Monthly newsletters and calendars can be sent home to parents in color. We can print off pictures of the children to hang in the classroom in color! I have a poster on my door that reads, "The best of our classroom is who we share it with." and I have a picture of each child with their family member on my door. It would be a great help if I had easy access to a color printer at work to make the room more inviting each year for the students and their parents. Also any special supplemental worksheets that we need or manipulative to print off for any special projects could be done in color!
