This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are always excited to start their day. They often come up to me first thing to tell me something exciting that happened the night before or to show me something special. We are a school family. We help each other out and look out for one another. If they see a need, they take the initiative to help. They are a special group of students.
Our school serves students from preschool through second grade.
The students in my class receive free breakfast and lunch. They are also provided with a snack. Many students go home with a bag of food for the weekend. We never want food to be a barrier for the students. The majority also did not attend preschool. For many, this is their first school experience. Despite the obstacles that some of my students face, they come to school excited to learn. We have a great time learning together every day.
My students need some hands-on learning materials that they can be interactive with. These hands-on activities will provide multiple learning activities to build number sense and many other math skills they need including place value, decomposing numbers, addition, and subtraction. By using the Ten-Frame Floor Mat Activity, the students will build number sense, learn about decomposing numbers, addition, subtraction, and place value. The 0-30 Number Line Floor Mat will provide them an active way to learn about the way numbers work, addition, subtraction, more, and less. The Make a Splash 120 Mat Floor Game will help the students learn to count. It will also enhance their place value skills and knowledge of addition and subtraction. This mat will also help challenge them with 10 more/less and the number sequence to 120. Math Marks the Spot will help students build their addition and subtraction skills in a fun active way. All of these activities are hands-on, active, and engaging.
By donating to this project, you will be helping the students build their foundational skills in math.
By having these materials, we can provide all learners with another way to meet their mathematical goals and have fun learning.
