My Students
I teach the third grade Special Education Autism Core Program at our school. We are a Title I school, meaning that more than three-quarters of the students in our school come from low‑income households. Besides autism, some of my students also have anxiety, ADHD and specific learning disabilities. However, despite their disabilities, they always come to school with smiles on their faces.
My students' smiles bring joy to my life, and they make my days more enjoyable.
They work hard and follow the Core Curriculum at the same pace as the general education students. This workload is sometimes difficult for them, and it requires me to constantly think of ways to help them stay focused and engaged so that they can be successful in the classroom. My students love to learn, and I always encourage them to try their best.
My Project
Help me give my students an environment that is comfortable for learning. I want my students to have different seating options so that they feel comfortable and are able to be fully engage in their learning. Office computer chairs are much more comfortable than sitting in a hard chair all day. I want my students to find themselves in a comfortable sitting position that will allow them to be fully present in the lessons.
I would also like to get a heavy duty paper shredder to protect all their sensitive information.
As a Special Education teacher, I am in charge of my students' Individualized Education Plans. I print their goal pages to help me keep track of their progress. Once new goals are created, I have to make sure to protect their information by shredding null information. The folding platform truck would allow me to transport the files that need to be saved from my classroom to the office.
