Learning in a Flash- Flashcards Needed for Winter Break Gifts!
Help me give my students math games to review addition and subtraction. These will be part of holiday gifts for my students that include fun school supplies and other small trinkets.
I am a second-grade teacher with a group of the most hard-working, dedicated students. They impress me daily with their generous hearts, positive attitudes, and encouragement they provide to their peers. I am extremely proud of all they have accomplished so far this year.
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We serve children of active duty and retired military. Our school also serves students from many socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our students are driven and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make the world a better place.
My Project
Teaching in a high-poverty area at a Title I elementary school has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I have learned and gained so much from my students and their families, and I try to be the most effective and caring teacher I can be each year for all of my students. Being a teacher, in general, has been of the biggest joys in my life truly, and extremely humbling. During these unexpected times, nothing will stop me from trying to still be the teacher my students need.
The funding of this project would provide my students with math review items to be used in my instruction and for additional home practice.
Kids love when learning is fun, interactive, and engaging. With these math review games, the student will get to review important concepts in a fun and meaningful way. I especially love that since they can keep and use these at home, that their families can join in the learning process by reviewing math skills such as addition, subtraction with the students. I am requesting a class set of "Math War" to help my students get ready for multiplication that officially starts in 3rd grade. If they know their addition and subtraction, it will be one less stress as they learn multiplication and other concepts in 3rd grade! Students can review at home with their families in a more effective way for them. All of these will be for the students to keep. I plan to give them to students as holiday gifts with some other items in this project such as fun pencil sharpeners, magic scratch ornaments that they can make at school and take home, and some more!
