Learning How to Understand Our Emotions Through Books and Music!

My Students

My blended class of third and fourth graders are curious, creative students that love to learn. They are always so excited to get to learn about new things. Many of my students come from low income backgrounds and I want to help them experience things that they may not get to at home.

COVID-19 has really impacted them emotionally and has made it harder for them to learn how to interact with their friends.

The third graders in my class have only been able to experience kindergarten without any of the interruptions and strains the pandemic has caused. This has made it harder for them to build relationships and find outlets for their emotions.

My Project

These books will allow my students to continue to learn about their emotions. We will be reading many of them as a class and discussing how we can use them to help us. We will be learning how to use the musical instruments properly and then use them as a way to express our emotions in a healthy way.

These books and instruments will help my students bridge the gap in social and emotional learning as well as reading that was caused by the pandemic.

They will have the opportunity to read the books both as a class and on their own, to learn about any emotions they may be struggling with. They will also be able to learn how to build better relationships and help continue to build a happy and safe learning community.
