I need to learn how to incorporate coding skills into all subject areas to further my students' creativity and understanding of topics taught.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
This year, I am teaching 2nd grade and boy, am I a busy teacher! My students love interacting with each other and contributing towards our everyday activities.
Together we create a community of love and caring for one another.
Each student is helpful, creative, a thinker, and always striving hard to do their best. They enjoy being able to move around while doing an activity and talk about what they are doing in school or in life. In class, I try to feed off of those interests to create a learning environment that will be beneficial to them.
I hope to help them understand that they can do and be whatever they want as long as they are willing to try, work hard, and ask for help.
This conference spoke to me because of the nature of it. It is coding-using computers to build upon education. During this conference, I will gain knowledge that will allow me to incorporate more interactive skills into all subject areas.
Coding is a thing of the present and of the future.
As time goes on, more education takes place on a computer and more students become interested in it. Why not start teaching educational ways to use code that they can use as they move through all levels of school right now.
Using the program Tynker, I will be able to give students a hands on approach to learning the basics of coding with the aid of short films and step by step tasks in modules to build the students knowledge and skills. I will learn computer science concepts, coding pedagogy, best practices for an inclusive classroom, and ideas for fostering creativity and a maker mindset. (Tynker Infosys)
Incorporating skills that I will learn during the conference will give my students a better chance of being successful with computer skills in the future. Kids are our future-help me prepare them...won't you?
