Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are loving, hard-working kids that have had more than their share of challenges to overcome. My classroom is a safe place where my students thrive on social interactions as they learn together. They are doing their best to learn from home, some of whom have unreliable internet and inconsistent support from adults who are dealing with an equal amount of stress and instability.
My Project
Having the flexibility of using the ten-frames pouches at home or in the classroom will keep us ready for the changes to come. Each student will have their own set of ten frames with counters to use as they do their math problems and work online. Most first graders need to physically touch counters to develop skills in composing, decomposing and adding numbers.
The adding and subtracting playing cards, money and timers can be used to practice skills with a sibling or a parent at home.
The table caddies are perfect for grouping while keeping supplies for each student in their own separate space. Having a caddie and timer at home are necessary tools for students who need help organizing supplies and keeping track time.
