Help me give my students the opportunity to essentially, make anywhere a learning environment. The Lap desks and roller crates will allow groups to be more flexible throughout the building, encouraging engagement everywhere!
Our building is a k-6 building that continually grows in cultural diversity having students from Mexico, Bulgaria, Poland, India and many other countries across the world. As a Title I school, our building attempts to provide each of its 512 students with some of the basic needs they may not be able to receive outside of school. We are home to a Spanish dual language program, which begins in kindergarten and goes through sixth grade. In addition, our building is a site for the intellectual disabilities program that services students with wide ranging variety of physical and cognitive disabilities.
We believe that our students can achieve high expectations and each student sets goals in both reading and math.
Throughout the year we are constantly gauging how are students are working towards achieving that goal through data driven conversations with students, parents and staff members. Yet, our drive is to make sure our students are ready for their future - a future that we may not truly know what it will look like! Yet, they we are attempting to assure each student is future ready, in a way that they'll be able to engage with the unknown.
My Project
The Lap Gear Lap Desks will allow students to be comfortable and learn everywhere. The Wide Load Smart Carts will allow a central location to keep the Lap Desks as well as other necessary materials [dry erase boards, markers, sticky notes, etc]. Our building has a large number of student groups, grades kinder through sixth grade. These groups will meet in every nook and cranny in the building.
Setting up three "learning on the go" stations using the Wide Load Smart Carts with Lap Desks and other materials will allow groups be flexible in seating choices while continuing to encourage engagement in the learning process - while taking advantage of space throughout.
