This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am receiving the most vibrant, spirited, intelligent, fun-loving little people I've ever had! They are so full of energy and love that it explodes into the surrounding classrooms! They love helping each other, giving hugs, learning new skills, and talking about their learning with anyone who will listen! These children come from a poverty-stricken community but that doesn't hinder their young spirits and motivation to be a great citizen in life. They are strong-willed, creative, and full of grit that will help them create productive lives for themselves and their families.
I adore their zeal and thirst for knowledge, even at their young ages, in every new task they encounter!
They approach topics with a confidence that says, "I can do all things!" They don't give up and love to be challenged. This ensures me that they will not just survive, but thrive in their communities and the world! When given the proper foundation, they have no desire but to soar! I have watched them swiftly grow in problem-solving through play, showing empathy towards their peers, sharing their learning through collaborative group projects, and developing leadership skills that extend beyond our classroom. I love them!
My Project
My students are young learners who need a comfortable place to work so they can focus on learning. The comfy cushion seats will allow my students to work in a flexible seat that provides a softer cushion than traditional chairs, allowing them to focus on the task at hand and not squirming in hard, stiff chairs.
Kids need to move and be comfortable as then learn!
Along with the comfy cushions, the students will use the portable writing desks for group work and collaboration which will boost student achievement drastically! The variety of seating will encourage children to share both space and supplies, learning how to problem-solve and self-regulate for the good of the community. Building these social skills at this age will help students develop into productive citizens who can cooperate, collaborate, and lead in the real world! I want my classroom to reflect the real world so my students will have a better chance of being successful in it!
